Hello

Does anone have any suggestions about getting rid of chronic cramp. It affects my anles, toes, instep and knees.
Excruciatingly painful and lasts up to an hour at a time. Getting this every day - the pain has me close to tears.

If it was in a muscle I could probably ease it, but in the joints it is terrible.

Any help would be most welcome

Thanks

Rosie

Isn't there something in tonic water that helps with cramps? I do sympathise as cramp can be so painful. I used to get it in my calf muscle in the years leading up to getting RA but strangely I don't suffer with it any more. It would have me hopping round the room in agony. I think you should go to the GP and ask for advice as whatever you take might interact with your other medicines. I do hope you can get some relief soon. Naomi, X

I thought potassium is needed for cramp, as in bananas, but probably totally wrong!
My sister had chronic gout and cramp in her toes and found it was caused the blood pressure tablets that she had been prescribed. As soon as she was changed to another type, the cramps dissappeared. Its worth reading the possible side effects of the meds you are taking. Cramp is so painful, it stops you in your tracks. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Quinine is what my GP precribed for cramp. Mine was like Julie`s, and always seemed worse at night. Tonic water contains quinine - I did ask my GP if I could the gin on prescription too, but sadly no!!
